Site Management - Edit Site

Each SiteScripter intranet is accessed by a unique URL. By default, your intranet will have a URL created by the SiteScripter support team. This URL will be the domain name of your institution followed by ".libraryintranet.com". This URL can be changed to use your institution's domain name if desired. To do this, you will need the cooperation of the organization at your institution that is responsible for managing your domain name. Once you have secured this cooperation, use the Help Desk tool to open a request and provide the new URL you wish to use. The SiteScripter support team will make the necessary changes. The IP Address of your intranet will remain the same.

The address information you provide in the Site tool is used for postal communication. However, most communication will be by email. The administrative and billing contacts you provide here will be used for communication when necessary. The administrative and billing contacts can be the same person. You should set your time zone to the appropriate value. SiteScripter provides a large selection of possible time zone settings. Be sure that you select the correct setting for your location. The time zone setting affects all dates and times recorded by the various tools in SiteScripter.

SiteScripter allows you to apply two restrictions on your web page editors. The first is to require approval of all web page changes by a site administrator before a web page is published. This means that whenever a restricted editor requests that a web page be published, the site administrators will receive an email message asking that they publish the web page after reviewing it. The site administrators can either publish the page or provide the requesting editor with details as to why the page cannot be published.

The second restriction that can be applied to editors is restricting editing to only the web pages the editor owns. By default, SiteScripter allows any editor to modify the content of any page. Restricting editing to only the web pages the editor owns may be desired by some libraries. Both of these restrictions can be implemented for a particular editor using the Members tool. In the Site tool, however, either of these restrictions can be applied site-wide, overriding the settings for individual editors in the Members tool.
